Well, Beauvais for sure is not a very beautiful and big airport, and it is totally in middle of nowhere. And security check line seems to be just as slow as only the French service can be. Well, it is progressing.

Visited Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace today. Not a bad museum, definitely more interesting than Louvre to me. The museum was a bit smaller than I expected though, and all the aircraft where you could get inside were heavily modified for museum display purposes. The cockpits, passanger seats etc were also behind glass walls.. It's time for me to leave Paris soon towards Stockholm and Finland. It will be a long journey, first a bus 105km out of Paris to Beauvais, a Ryanair flight to Nykoping/Skavsta in Sweden and another bus to Stockholm. Then some hours of sleep in an oldtown hostel and a day ferry to Turku.

Most of the day today was spent visiting the Louvre. Interesting, although I'm not a big fan of that kind of museums and basically all the information was in the horrible local language. And I have seen too many similar museums and their clay pots already... Well, still a decent way to spend a day, one more famous place visited.

Walked around the city a bit yesterday, visited Notre Dame and near Eiffel tower. I guess it will be Louvre today and tomorrow the aviation museum Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace.

In the morning we visited the beach of Agadir for a moment, just to notice that it was relatively cold at the beach due to cold wind and nobody was swimming in the sea. Some hours were spent at a bazaar and then we took off to Marrakech. As warned before, Marrakech traffic really is horrible... I'm still having a strong opinion that most of the people here shouldn't be given anything else than a camel to drive. They happily make four lanes on a two lane road and nobody respects traffic lights or actually any rules for that matter. Some kilometers in the city traffic drove me to the edge of a mental breakdown again.. Well, we managed to return the rental car in one piece, took a taxi to the guesthouse and walked around the city a bit. Once again things had to be done the hard way with the taxis. Obviously there is a fixed price to the airport in the city, which at about 7eur is at least four times higher than the actual fare on taximeter should be for that distance. Naturally there was no way I was going to pay that inflated (cheated, in my opinion) price, so we just walked out of the airport area and took a taxi to downtown for less than one euro. Annoying to walk with heavy bags, but.. By the way, I bought a tagine, the Moroccan clay pot they use for slow cooking. Have to learn how to use it back home. :)

We departed Merzouga after breakfast and drove almost 700 kilometers to the beach resort of Agadir. Damn, we always manage to underestimate the distances a bit.. Was a long day. :) When we got closer to the coast and Agadir landscapes changed from Mars-like red deserts to more green, and traffic got more busy. Obviously most of the population live on the coastline in more favorable conditions than in the desert parts of the country. We also made a brief contact with the local police. I obviously missed a speed limit change just before Agadir, and a not so happy police officer with radar was about to give me a 300 dirhams (some 28eur) speeding ticket. He let us go without a ticket after a while though, as we were tourists.. Luckily, we had no cash at the moment. :)

Yesterday we continued our drive towards our destination, the Saharan outpost of Merzouga, driving fast through the empty desert roads. We stopped halfway for Todra Gorge canyon and arrived to Merzouga just before the sunset. The highlight of the place is the Sahara desert, so we choose to stay in the desert for the night in a berber tent. We rode camels to the tents, arriving there just before darkness, had a dinner and after the cold night rode back to the city after sunrise. The night in the desert was an interesting experience. The night is so dark that you cannot see absolutely anything. I woke up in the tent at night and it really was a strange feeling to not be able to see the tent or anything else but darkness. The stars were shining brightly over the desert though, tried to take some pictures of them but it was pretty much impossible to do in the strong wind without a proper tripod.
